half penny 1852. missing 1

Post by Bernard244 » Tue Jan 05, 2021 11:52 am

This half penny upper canada has no complete year , I mean 852 is the year. instead of 1852 , since many coins have some added value when you find an error on it, is it the case of my coin. Thank you all!

Is the missing digit due to wear? Is the remainder of the coin very easy to read? Is there damage where the missing digit is? If everything else on the coin is no problem, it's probably due to plugged or filled die and MIGHT be worth a very small increase in value.

this the half penny, as you can see the opposite side of the year side is stained by some tar like substance . I did not try to clean it but I guess it could be cleaned. The year side does not show ware its more like it is simply missing the "1"
