Thank you for sharing your experience and your notes. 8) 8)
I admit that I am partial to Canada's notes, with their colours and interesting stories, but I do appreciate the coloured notes of other places. I lived in the USA for a while and people were clearly not aware how annoyed I was at hearing how our money looked like Monopoly money - "Yes, it does look colourful - far more beautiful than just green." I love watching movies/TV and seeing Bank of Canada notes used.

Thank you for sharing your experience and your notes
-It's great to know a few people appreciate seeing & learning about other's grading experiences. Since branching into world currency & registering in many forums, I was a little taken aback by so many negative opinions on TPG. I know it is expensive but it really does take a lot of guess work out of the value once you decide to sell (or even keep). I wasn't a fan of TPG at first either but after I wanted some BoC 1935 (& other expensive notes) I realized that TPG was the only way to go (a no-brainer). My experience with the some of my notes from the Philippines actually drive this point home even more since they were UNC but pressed!

The larger the country the higher the chances you will meet people who just aren't informed, don't care, or a combo of the 2. I've actually met few people who care about coins & fewer who care about their banknotes. I so often see comments (on other forums) about "how colourful world money" is. I've read a lot of condescending opinions re: other nation's currency but I'm actually happy about these shortsighted opinions. You see, at one time, US collectors accounted for as many collectors as all other nation's collectors combined. This has changed a little (ie more Asian/Indian collectors now) but generally American collectors still outnumber us & most other collectors. They essentially drive the CDN & World currency markets. Their interest in Canadian banknotes is one of the reasons the 1954 Devil's Face are so expensive. (Plus they know Bank of Canada notes are anywhere from 1/100 to 1/10,000 less common). So, the longer they remain oblivious to other countries, the less demand, which = cheaper world notes! YEAH! Its one of the reasons I started collecting world (they're so incredibly inexpensive in UNC!) No need to buy circulated notes either!

Here's a modern day rarity. This 20 Euro was printed by TDLR in England but issued in Portugal. They're really hard to come by & so long as Americans don't care, the price will remain fairly accessible:

The above 20 Euros came back with a PMG UNC 66 EPQ grade! That was a huge relief as I paid a small premium for this note (which seems like a bargain now with the assigned grade!)

I have shared my PMG submission results below.

On other forums, I keep seeing modern (present-day) issues from other countries posted with the question, "What is it worth?" Some of these collectors are asking about high denominations too, like a 2018 Hong Kong $500 from the Bank of China:
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/note203190.html
This note is being sold on eBay for about $100 USD. Although the collector was posting about a common repeater, I can't imagine spending $125 (or any premium) on such a common note. If you check the Numista link (provided above) you will find that 92% of Numista members own the (2018) $500 while only 18% own the 2020 note. What does this indicate? Not much since its only 2023 (& we need more time) but if I were a collector from Hong Kong I would save my money or place it elsewhere. What can $100 USD buy? It can buy a lot of nice notes.

You could collect according to motif (Music, Nobel Laureates, UNESCO world heritage sites featured on notes, etc)
You could collect notes from specific regions (Asia, North America, Europe, etc). Could somebody with $100 buy a note from a nations which no longer exists (Biafra, East Germany? etc) or which no longer issues notes (Ecuador, El Salvador)? How about banknotes that are just gorgeous designs?

Here's a few recent World notes I picked up. The first is from Solomon Islands (1986) $50, the 2nd a $5 polymer replacement from Fiji & the 3rd is a $50 polymer from Triinidad:

All together, these notes were less than $100 USD.

I was going to post something on Canada Day (07/01) & Independence Day (07/04) for our US neighbour collectors to the south but got caught up in other stuff.

For Canada Day I was going to post this $5.00 Journey solid radar. This note I posted elsewhere (CCF World Sub) also to spark any opinions on when the Bank of Canada would release the long anticipated vertical Design (announced prior to the new 2018 Vertical TEN Dollar Note). Here's the solid radar which I received in Lotto change:

And this post is a late nod to our US collector friends (for Independence Day):

If you would like to learn more about US currency, than first check out this US Currency Education Program site which provides tables & the most clarity you can find on the Federal Reserve Notes (FRN's), Treasury Seals, Reserve Indicators, PSN & series years. I wrote a bit about the Bank of Canada prefix system yesterday (04/05) on the Canadian thread. The BEP uses a serial number "Block system" (prefix & suffix) so it is important to learn about the "Block system" if you wish to better understand US currency (& whats collectible).

https://www.uscurrency.gov/denomination ... 20process.

If you found this site enlightening & wish for more info, then please check out my Notaphilyc SITES & FORUMS page which has far more resources (links) to US & other world currencies. One of my favourite sites to learn about US currency (besides the one listed above) is the BNM (Bank Note Museum) which you'll find on my SITES & FORUMS page. I enjoy just "eye-balling" the various US Series to know what collectors seek (& see the Large Size "horse blanket" series prior to 1928).

Here's the $2.00 featuring one of the principle authors of the "Declaration of Independence," Thomas Jefferson. It's from the 1953 series so too early for the reverse of image of the famous painting seen on the 1976 $2. The reverse on this note features Jefferson's home (Monticello(:

Over the past 3 years, I've been following a Paper Money Forum (PMF) thread on "UNESCO Natural World Heritage Sites." It was created by a seasoned collector who goes by CurrencyDen1:
https://www.papermoneyforum.com/post/un ... 1326791167
What a great way to collect World currency!

In the spring, my wife & went on a trip to East Asia (Thailand & the Philippines). After spending 2 weeks in Thailand, I knew I had to purchase some UNC older notes. I got this set (& others) from Noteshobby on eBay:

I also got the Philippines new 1000 Piso polymer note which won Banknote of the Year.

Recently, I've been contributing my own thread on "Overlooked World Notes" over on PMF. I started off with a couple tough, overlooked Bank of Canada examples but then started exploring pre-Euro currency. Check out:

It will be an ongoing project. Please pop by to take a peak.
