2002 1cent

Post by Frisco19 » Sun Jan 03, 2021 1:42 am

]Acquired this penny from a friend can't find any reference on it just wondering if anybody out there knows anything!
Is it from a proof set? And error? Or a fake?
Does it have any value??
Also think maybe offset die rotation??
Thanks for any info

Appears to be a circulated coin, info on the 2002 penny can be found at

What do you think the anomaly or problem/difference is? It looks normal to me from the photos, except for the black spots.

Hi Frisco, proof coins will look very shiny, like a mirror almost and will be handled with great care, so there should be no marks at all on it. It might have die rotation, but impossible to tell by these pictures. You should also clean the lens of your camera from the 2 black spots. It is a nice looking coin, but you’re not going to get rich off of it.

Thank you for the feed back......yes the two black spots are on the microscope itself I can't seem to get them off or know how they got there.
I was more curious of why it is silver (lack of better word) colored as opposed to the typical copper colors of all other pennies and it seem slightly larger diameter then other pennies........I began coin collecting for the enjoyment of the hobie something that I find interesting.
I'm pretty sure I'm not getting super rich from any of the coins I have currently but they're fun to look at and great for discussions with friends and others.
Thank you again guys I've enjoyed reading many discussion on here......I'll be back with lots more questions lol

Looks like a "Texas cent"
Google the term and you may find your answer.
