I am far from an expert. But to me it looks like all post meant damage. But it sure is nice seeing this forum have a lot more activity. I have a son who has gone through thousands of rolls of cents If you click on the link on the bottom of this post it will show Franklin’s finds from coin counting machines And there are examples of coins that look like yours.
Re: 1983-D US Penny?
Same answer as the other Forum you posted this on. Just a badly damaged coin.
There is no possible way that could happen during the striking of the coin.

I Do Apologized for the first image that l have sent,
Regarding to this topic, l don't think this was damaged in my opinion according to the image itappears that President Lincoln is doing his speech and in the rim that look likes damage is part of the design like number 3 nunmber 2, l just got curious about this penny so l posted it and l don't think this is man made..

Wow! That thing is worse than a Rorschach test, where you have ink blots and you are supposed to guess what it looks like. This is a regular US penny that someone either took tools to or was caught in some kind of machinery. It's post-mint damage to the nth degree.

Re: 1983-D US Penny?
The new pictures do not change the fact that it is a badly damaged coin.
As I stated in my previous post, there are only certain things that can happen to a coin while
in the striking chamber that can cause an error and that is not one of them.
If you truly believe you have something special, spend the money to have it certified and see
what answer you get. It is nothing but DAMAGE.
You have gotten the same response on the other Forum you posted this on so let it go.

Can you tell me your findings or proved that coin was badbadly damaged sorry coinguy but im just curious about this coin, maybe this is the firstime you guys encountered thought a coin that we all thought was damaged but if u hnded and examamine this kind of coin im pretty sure you will get amazed, l mentioned even using rough sandpaper to thus coin in your post to other site, believe it or not that coin won't get scratch even the attempting to poke using the end of knife this coin won't get a hole, that's why l'm very curious about the type of this coin or sculpted coin l should say

Re: 1983-D US Penny?
There have been many many articles written on 1983 pennies, "D" and otherwise. You have a NORMAL 1983 penny that is copper-plated zinc. Someone has taken a screwdriver or awl or some other tool and scraped the surface to show the zinc core underneath. I'm sure that your coin will weigh almost exactly that a zinc-core penny will be. Go ahead and google this and see what you get.:

Hi Bill thanks the comment, they both weigh 2.5 g same as normal copper plated zink, l want to agree but there are some letters numbers that struck ontop of those so called scratchedand the details of the sculpted was perfectly drawn base on the circumstances, bec. The second coin was the day of his assasination and the first seems like making speech to the public or press conference and if you look closely those are person, oh its hard to explain, l wish l could show you guys in person so it's more easier to understand what I'msaying. This eont get scratched out even apply for sanding paper its gets more shiny instead of leaving some scratch

Re: 1983-D US Penny?
You have completely lost me about speeches and horses or date of assassination. You just have a normal penny that someone has mangled. There are no speeches or horses or other dates there.
