1881 missing leaf tip? & die crack
1881 missing leaf tip? & die crack
This large cent seems to be missing the tip of the leaf below the date. There is also a die crack at that location. Thoughts?

Nearly impossible to tell from photos. Is it flat with the field? Recessed? raised? dirt/grime? Who knows.? You have it in hand. What does it look like?

Re: 1881 missing leaf tip? & die crack
I initially thought PMD because it is slightly recessed to the field but it doesn't look like what I normally see for "damage" on more modern coins (it's my first time looking at large cents (from my Grandfather)).
So then I was leaning toward struck through something causing the slight recess and taking out most of the tip of the leaf but leaving a little part of the tip of the leaf where the struck through material wasn't. I took another picture rotating it in different light (attached).
I'm new to this so pardon me if I get the terminology wrong!
