2000 Dot

Post by lazars » Sun Sep 25, 2022 9:21 pm

Hi. I'm new to the forum and would like the groups opinion on a coin I have. It's a 2000 Canadian 1 cent that has a dot after the date. I've never heard of a variety like this so what could it be? I've seen dots on coins before but to have it right after the date seems almost intentional.

Welcome to the forum.
The “dot” is caused by a pin head size die chip. Not uncommon on the chromium plated dies.
There would be many more out there the same as every coin struck from this die would be the same
