Yes, a huge difference:

I don't like the lines that they draw on there to show the diffeence. Just compare the gap between the 2 and the leaf and the gap between the 9 & 3 and # & 2. It's very easy to tell the far from the near.

Two shots. I can’t tell the difference. Same or not?

Welcome to the Forum.
Both those nickels are the Near Two variety.

So not as valuable as the far 2 variety. Hard to tell. Now yesterday, I got the plain 1947 nickel fine to
EF in change. Rarer than the maple leaf and the dot. Plus a lot of 1948 nickels as well. Thanks for your help coinguy. Some of these anomalies with coins are hard to figure out.

Your Welcome.
Actually the 1947 dot is the rarest, it can be worth in the hundreds of dollars. There are no varieties
on the 1948 nickel to worry about.

It is and I’m not willing to pay the price my coin dealing is asking for the dot as it’s too beat up. If you or anyone has one in at least fine condition without King George VI’s effigy all beat up they would consider selling/part with, let me know.

Windsorcoinguy ..... you remarked in answer to your question about the near & far '32, "So not as valuable as the far 2 variety. Hard to tell." well, the far sells in VF-20 at 100 times that of a "near". That's $650 Canadian versus $6. So yes, the far is much better and I think that your coin is better than VF-20. Keep looking

If you find the varieties and values confusing, just use the C aC giude as a "general" reference to see what the variety looks like and, in my opinion, somewhat exaggerated prices:

It looks like a well worn 1947. The picture is way out of focus to give a rough idea of the grade.
