1948 A Between Variety?

Post by trimille1 » Wed Feb 08, 2023 8:26 pm

I have attached a couple of pictures of two 1948 "A Between Denticle" cents. It is quite obvious that the lettering on the Obverse is different on the two coins. Lettering on the top coin is much slimmer than the bottom coin and centers of letters like R and A are larger on the top coin. I only have a few samples of the "A Between" variety but they all have the more stout lettering like the bottom coin. I can't find any reference to this. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Possibly one die was worn more than the other.
The more a die gets worn, the thinner the letters become.
