1943 cent... What am I looking at?

Post by greenlakemike » Mon Feb 13, 2023 5:29 pm

First time posting... Everything seen here not normal appears to be raised. Splattered is the best description I have for it. Looking for expert opinion! That's not me...

Welcome to Coins and Canada

Looks like there is something on it. Soak in acetone for 24 hrs and see if it comes off.
One thing for is that it is not an error, this happened after it left the mint.

Lets just say I had to get a little aggressive, but you were right. When rubbed, it appeared to be copper. So that's what had me fooled. Don't know what it was... but it did come off. It now looks like a naturally abused 80 year old penny. Thanks!
