Am I seeing little numbers all over this coin?

Unless you are talking about 1974, I see no numbers, only a coin that has been in acid or coated with it. Or possibly, left in Coca-Cola for weeks. The surface would be the same

I found it in a parking lot, in a puddle of mud. I knew it was a coin and was rubbing it to get the dirt off while I checked for any other coins. When I looked at it this is what I saw.

Whatever caused it , it didn’t happen at the mint. It is some sort of damage.
What you think you are seeing is impossible to happen when the coin was struck.

This is for sure and the jury is still out over whether it's a mental illness or not. Hopefully it is because my other ones are getting lonely. But aren't a lot of the errors and oddities defined by terms like that. The devil in the queens hair or the polar bear with a cigar?

Definitely not a mental illness or disorder, but the brain trying to make sense of the world. The brain has, through evolutionary processes, gotten so good at pattern recognition and interpretation that it simply makes some mistakes. BUT there is a benefit - the wood carver that can see what an object the log is meant to become, for example. A bias will also play into this - an atheist is far less likely to see Jesus in the more and less toasted areas on a slice of bread, for example.
