Hello, I have a 1859 .01 with doubling on the obverse, I apologize for my ignorance of Canadian coins, but I'm trying to learn quickly.

There was a great deal of repunching dies that were getting tired. The actual presses from the RCM were set to press Brit half pennies that were copper. These were bronze and 1/3 thinner than the Brit coinage. The dies for the Canadian cents took a beating because of the excess pressure. Many letters and digits were repunched by hand to correct pieces of the dies chipping out. You'll find lots of hand repunched letters in the '59's.

Your coin is a Haxby PC59-227 ( Obverse 74+Reverse P12 ). Obverse die 74 has this obvious doubling on the R of GRATIA. You can find a lot of useful information in the Haxby 1859 N9 Catalog.
