1859 Canada large cent.

Post by KEN66 » Mon Oct 21, 2024 2:39 pm

I purchased a Anacs graded Canada large cent 1859 NAR 9 RPD#2. My question is what does RPD#2 mean?

It's just an 1859 DP2 (repunched # 2).... why they put a "D" in the name, I have no idea. You'll see the underpunch outside left of the upper loop and a large chunk left at 8:00 off the knob. They were made early in the mintage year so the vine at leaf 7 is almost all there.

Thank you for replying. Does it make it more valuable?

No, it's just a DP #2.
