1970 Nickel

Post by Robbe » Tue Jun 24, 2025 12:10 am

Hi, I have a 1970 nickel with what looks like a long crack on the obverse that goes from the rim above queen's head to near the bottom. Is this a die crack or some other damage. This is not a scratch.

It is a scratch, why would you say it wasn’t.

I agree, just a long straight scratch.

Looking my coin over better, I might have to agree it is a scratch. I don't know what could have made a scratch this fine and clean. If you look at this pic, the scratch goes into the hollows and over the humps and doesn't seem to get any deeper on the high spots, which is why I thought it might be a crack. Thanks for your replies.
