Assessment of 1947 as to DD and grading.

Post by knsgee » Sun May 23, 2021 2:28 pm

I am an elderly but very inexperienced coin collector and was wondering if any of the more experienced members would provide an assessment of what I think is a DD error on reverse and perhaps obverse as well and also an estimate to the grade this coin might obtain.
I was thinking about having it graded but am doubtful that the rating it would get would would be high enough to warrant the cost of that service in order to get a good price when attempting to sell.
Thanks in advance to any that offer their opinion and any comments.

Regards Gary

Hi Gary, you will have to supply a picture of the Reverse and Obverse sides of the coin to help you

Hi Jim,
I am as incompetent with computer as I am with my knowledge of coin s , and i realized that i had forgotten the photos and although I have them on my desk top cannot figure out how to get copies into posting!
I am still working on it but i am kind of a cut and paste dude and that does not seem to work for this site!
It may take me a while if indeed I am able to figure out how to do it!

Cheers!

All that looked when no photos included with original post, I have managed to edit that post and it now has photos of coin in question!
Cheers all, stay safe !

Terminology correction:
A Doubled Die is a Variety, not an error.

That is not DDO or DDR on your nickel that is common Machine Doubling.
With the condition of your coin, it wouldn't be worth much more than 20-25 cents.
There were 9,595,124 of the 1947ml struck so they are not hard to come by in
good condition so certainly not worth grading.
