2016 Large Dot on Log

There is a fairly large dot (positive relief) on the log of this 2016 nickel. I'm not sure if a die chip could have caused it? but interesting nonetheless.
Probably a die chip. A lot of chips start as a pin head size hole and
increase in size with the continuous striking of coins.
