1957 bug tail

Post by Piepala80 » Thu Feb 16, 2023 6:30 pm

Hello. Wondering who can help.
What's more desirable a MS-65 Bug Tail or a Pl-65 Bug Tail.
I can't find prices for PL Bug Tail variety.
I have a MS-64 and want to upgrade

There is no such coin as a 1957 PL bugtail but if there was,
the ML65 would be more valuable.

Well if there is no such coin and if one does find one doesn’t that make a pl-65 an extremely rare coin.
I would think that a one of a kind would be more expensive than a coin you can get your hands on at any time.
Please correct me if I’m wrong

They aren't varieties but small errors at best and you'll never find a price for any of them. They aren't scarce and certainly aren't rare. Just keep it in your collection as a "nice find".

Bill I need to disagree. Coins and canada have it as a variety,
Charlton Standard as well and the Saskatoon coin club.
If the bug tail was a small error why would a normal ms-64 be only $13.10 and a bug tail ms-64 is worth $150.
It's more then a nice find. What I'm wondering is if the PL 65 a harder to find than a ms-65. I hunt for hard to get coins.

As I stated previously, there is no PL bugtail. The bugtail is caused by a die chip on that one
business strike die and would not appear on a PL coin. Save your time by searching for one.

I saw the pl-65 in person. It’s not a bug tail but there is some small mortar build up near tail. I past on the sale.
