1935 nickel error? Or did someone mess with the coin.
My bank found me a couple of old coin rolls, and found a lovely 1935, with a giant mess in the middle. Anyone know if this might be a die chip, or a person messing with a coin? Thanks!

PMD. Something hard hit it, intentionally or just through use.

There is no way that could have happened when the coin was struck so
it has to be damage, no matter how it happened.

Definitely not a strike- other side is not affected. But I’m thinking maybe someone took a soldering iron to it?. No idea why someone would do thisBill in Burl wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 7:39 pmPMD. Something hard hit it, intentionally or just through use.

could be solder, but looks like a gouge to me. You should be able to tell if it's solder, because it would be much "softer" than the nickel.
