1885 Error Question
1885 Error Question
I'm new to collecting and very new to Canadian coin collecting. Is this 1885 dime an error coin? I couldn't find any examples of this type of possible error. Any assistance would be great.

Re: 1885 Error Question
That wouldn't be an error. It is only an error if something happens
during the time the coin is being struck.
Looks to me like something has been added (solder?) to the reverse.
Perhaps someone was going to make it into a piece of jewelry.
To verify this, just weigh it. It should weigh 2.33 grams, anything over
that is something that has been added to the coin.
