Wire Strike-Through's/ Two on one Dime/Newby

Post by new canada 1 » Sun Apr 19, 2020 10:16 pm

Hi guy's. Finally pulled the trigger to collect Canadian Coins. Beautiful coins. Esp. in Mint Sets. In which, brings me here. I wanted to post what I've found in a 1969 Mint Set. A Dime with not one but two Wire Strike-Through's. Sorry, many photo's. Thank you guy's. Good to be here! :)

:D Thank you! :D
I was thinking? Whether to send it in to grade or leave in the cello pack? A dilemma? A bonus in this same set is a very nice Nickel to boot!

Don't send it in to grade. All you'll be doing is wasting money Just paying the cert fee plus shipping and you'll be spending maybe 10X times the value that they'd ever be worth.

Thank you for the suggestion. I was thinking the same as you were. About the final value. You're probably right. I was thinking the rarity in it. Three reasons. #1. The strike-through wire. #2. Not just one strike-through on one single coin but two! #3. This part excludes the grading slab. It's still in the original Mint Set! Oh well, I guess I'll just keep it in the cello. I'll probably go your way of thinking. Thanks again. 8)

I would just leave it in the cello pack. You could probably get more selling it as an error in a PL set. There are are people who do collect these. If you break it out, you would not get as much for it as a small struck through is considered a minor error and doesn't really add that much to the value.

Both of you are right. I was contemplating to place in a plexiglass rectangular square where one can view both sides, then frame it. Like mentioned, doing this would probably make it a more valuable item? Sure, I can buy such a piece, but I'll make it handmade instead. I'll post when I accomplish. Thanks guy's. 😊
