Hope someone out there can help more then me but i think you would have a better chance of finding out what it is if you took the coin out of what ever holder you have it in and set out a picture of the bare coin. IMO

It looks like it may be a die chip, hard to tell from the photo. Is it raised or incuse?
Also could you get a better photo of that area.

Could also be a stuck through. Is the spot raised (relief) or lowered (incused)?

If it’s lowered, then something came between the planchet and die. When the coin is struck, the item is struck through, impressing itself into the coin.

If it’s raised, then something on the die cracked or chipped off. When the coin is struck, the metal is forced up into these voids.

I would not take it out of the mint package that would drop the value or premium if a mint error

It's going to cost you a pretty penny to get that graded, especially if you want the error mentioned/referenced.

I'm not much of a collector of coins with errors, and am just wondering , If this is a mint error to what extent do you think it would increase the value. Bill can you give us a idea of what it will cost to grade??

I don't use TPG's. I'm only passing along what I have heard. It will cost you at least $25-50 more than just a straight graded coin for the error to be mentioned, depending on which TPG that you use, plus tax, postage and insurance. I'm sure it will cost well more than the coin will ever be worth.
