2005 D???

Have a 2005 quarter I believe it should have a P mint Mark. However this coin has what appears to be a D
Any thoughts? Is it an error, or has anyone else seen anything similar?

Not a mint mark and not a D.
it is a P that stands for Plated that has had the bottom knocked off making it look like a D.

It’s possible that it could be a partially filled die, but because of the overall damage to the coin, I agree with coinguy, PMD.
