New to this very informative forum.

Searching this site for info on this coin, I came across helpful information and reference to books on the precise topic. Unfortunately our Charlton 2015 has very little info on this year. And would appreciate the title to the other book referred to by someone named Paul.

Looking over our collection of about two dozen 1941s today I think I have identified 4 varieties that are probably already documented somewhere, but I would appreciate confirmation. I have taken photos and will try to add them here.

The back of the 1914 Charlton Catalogue is dedicated to 50 cent pieces
and it shows 4 different varieties for the 1941's.

The 50 cent guru is pg in rh and is the author of the 2014 Charlton variety guide. I haven't seen him around here lately but, then again, he had a house break-in and many coins gone a few months ago.

Thanks for the feedback CoinguyS! I will try my local coin shop for the 2014 Charlton. Surprising they didn't repeat that variety section in the newer editions?

I'm going to keep those 4 coins regardless of whether they are the same as the official ones, since I'm following the philosophy of putting whatever I want to in my albums. (I think I photographed the wrong coin for my last photo #4. I doesn't look right.)

Bill, Was there another book you were referring to that is specifically about the 50 cent pieces or did I imagine that?

The variety section in the back of the annual Charlton's changes from year to year, by the decimal denomination or a subgroup by Monarch. The 1914 has the 50 cents.

In addition to the spacing of the date digits (32 as that is the Mint figure for the Reverses used} there are a couple of other varieties. There are two styles of the ‘4’ date digit, one with a flared cross bar and one with a non=flared crossbar. There are also two different double-punched ‘1’ s. And there is another die with a ‘4’ that has been reworked. So something else to look for in your 1941’s.
