Wide date???
Wide date???
I see 1952 wide date 50 cent coins on eBay but can’t find what a wide date looks like . Can someone out there explain
Re: Wide date???
On the Narrow Date, the 2 is close to the 5.
On a Wide Date, the 2 is further from the 5 almost touching the hoof.
As the 2 was hand punched into the dies, even this can vary slightly.

You should also check for a doubled HP on the Obverse of 1952 50c coins. The 1951 and 1952 50c can be found with Doubled Die (DDO) Obverses, and the 1950 50c can be found with a doubled die Reverse (DDR).

if i remember correctly 50-cent coins were handpunched in the 40's and 50's. you can see many variation of the position of the last digit but none actually have a premium value

Thanks for all the info. The only problem is that saying “ your never to old to learn “ I don’t think works in my case information overload for me but I’m sure someone out there will learn from the information you guys provide, I know just reading all the stuff that come out of this site has opened my eyes to all the small details of coin and currency collecting. Thanks.
