2006 penny missing clad layer

Post by DaveD » Thu Aug 08, 2024 4:32 pm

Hey I'm wondering how much a 2006 penny missing clad layer is worth? Or how rare these errors are?

Welcome to the forum

It looks more like you have a plated cent than one that is missing the copper plating.
Can you give a weight to two decimal points, this should determine the cause.

We need pics of both sides of your coin outside of the plastic baggies.
Is it attracted by a magnet?
How much does it weigh?

Cladding and plating are two entirely different processes.
There are no clad Canadian coins.

From the weight difference, most likely struck on a foreign planchet an XRF would be needed to confirm, large coin and gold dealers would have such a nachine
