1982 Constitution Dollar, Die error? or what if anything

Post by RLD » Wed Oct 30, 2019 8:03 pm

The coin is from bank in 1982 but never in circulation. Photo 1 is a closeup of a book with square corners, the same as other 1982 dollars I have. Photo 2 is a closeup of the same book on another coin. The yellow arrow points at the corner that is flatted in the shape of a dog-ear triangle. The coins have not been handled roughly and been looked at only a few times over past 20yrs. Could it have been something foreign in the die?

It looks like it may have taken a hit on the corner of the book flattening it slightly.
Not uncommon on business strikes.
