1935 SWL Double on XXV

Post by JQ-MTL » Thu Jul 14, 2022 2:38 pm

Hello dear fellow Collectors,
I have just got in possession of a 1935 SWL but to my surprise there is some Double Punch on the XXV.
Anybody would know this variation? I cannot find any info.
Thanks !

Not really aa surprise, I have one myself.
It is listed by Charlton as Variety Obv.-002 caused by "Machine Doubling Damage."
It is fairly common and doesn't ad much value.

Agree with coinguy on this. It is MD, caused by the die being a little loose in the keeper/holder. It's not really "doubled" and it's an error, not a variety. It will add little to no extra value.
