Strange 2$ 2009

Hi.
I would like to get your opinion. some on facebook tell me that it was the former owner of this $ 2 who must have put it under a hydraulic press but I doubt it because it is not more flattened.

The visible marks match perfectly with a $ 1 and the letter at the bottom appears to be the D of D • G. The beads are recessed and not dented.

can someone confirm to me if this is an error occurred while creating this $ 2 or if it is a voluntary modification by someone?

Thank you!

Welcome to the Forum

That is what is known as a vise coin. Two or more coins are put in a vise or something similar and squeezed.
Don’t see them as often on larger coins but are fairly common on the smaller ones.
Keep it as a novelty if you like but it is considered damage so has no extra value.

I agree with coinguy.

It's a Post Mint Damage or PMD.

All types of manufacturing errors from Mint are well known and your coin is not part of them.

Here is an example of a genuine indentation signature coming from the mint.

This one is called: Partial Brockage.
