Seeking help grading 2 1936 $1. coins.

Post by Allan T » Sat Oct 17, 2020 10:09 pm

First time poster here, I'm an ancient senior hoping to gain some insight in grading coins - looks like a formidable task.

I hope I have a front and reverse scan in acceptable size that allows opinions to be expressed.

I will be very grateful for any help. I have been an impressed guest viewer for a few months now.

Gee, I'm disappointed when I look at my scans - wonder if I can enlarge them - or do I need to submit one coin at a time? I think I'll do a preview trial with a crop enlargement and see if anything looks different.

Here's a little help for you to study and reference:

http://web.archive.org/web/201402201745 ... Coins.html

http://www.saskatooncoinclub.ca/article ... -ver2.html

also, enter the PCGS site and look at coins/grades that have been certified by them .. the photos are in there. Also look at Ebay completed auctions and the grading guide that is right here on this site, but not accessable through this actual discussion forum. There is a very nice coin grading, as well as pricing(estimates way too high) and varieties for that year/date. Here is the link for the "CoinsandCanada" grading section for this CaC site. Just go to coinsandcanada.com for other nice references

Thank you sincerely for the reply and the prompts, Bill in Burl. I am grateful for the time and effort you have spent to assist me.

The Coinsandcanada and the Saskatoon coin Club websites are very interesting. I have been visiting them, had my own thoughts on grades of the 2 coins, and was hoping for some expression to confirm I might at least be in the ballpark.

I am disappointed I was unable to submit a scan that would elicit 2 or 3 guesstimates on the grade of the coins. I have spent a fair bit of time attempting to learn the scanning process to effectively post and submit a scan. To my own eyes the pictures did not seem clear nor did they reflect the luster I felt should show.

I guess I need to take a bit of time and see if I can figure out how to submit a better post. Perhaps I'll experiment to the "Preview" stage with one coin only, maybe even a 10 cent coin.

I hope I'm not out of line in any of this - I don't intend or want to be a nuisance.
