$1 Canada coin 1968

Post by Was » Tue Sep 19, 2023 11:39 am

I have several $1 coins 1968 sealed in cellophane from the Mint. Would they be graded better than just uncirculated?

Thanks, I have very little knowledge of coin collecting and appreciate your help.

Uncirculated grades range from MS60 - MS70 so each coin could grade differently, depending on the condition.
There are also several varieties of the 1968 dollar. Unless you have a high grade, it would not be worth the cost of grading as with over 5.5 million being minted, they are fairly common.

Those dollars sealed in Mint cellophane are PL dollars.
They are actually worth far less than their similarly graded circulation counterparts.

Not sure what PL dollars are, but from your reply guess getting face value is about right?

Thank you.

Yes, worth a dollar Canadian and not much more unless a spectacular condition. Don't get them graded, too many $$$$ to do that.

Thank you, quite confusing with so many variables even in uncirculated.
