Definitely get it certified and handle carefully. Put it in a protective holder
to prevent any marks or crease's which can devaluate it greatly.
With the front being off centre, it will prevent it from being a top grade but
if you can get it certified uncirculated, it could be a five figure find.

Thank you for the advise. This was part of an inheritance which proceeds will be divided with siblings.
I have a lot of notes to check but this one is the most promising thus far.

Hey Carmie,
I am brand new to this discussion group, and am looking forward to meeting lots of people.
I am not sure if we are allowed to discuss buying and selling on this site, so please forgive me if I am breaking any rules.
I am an avid collector of Bank of Canada notes, and have a quest to obtain 1 note from every year, series, signature, and prefix. This is a very large goal, and I have been at it for over a decade, and am barely half way there.
Your *WA $20 note is very hard to find. Is there any chance it is still around, and if so, could it be available for the right price?

That *WA $20 replacement is a significant find but I'll be surprised if "CarmieG" still checks in here.

My Charlton puts this scarce note at "80" issued with few estimates of 5 figured Book Value in upper grades. It would be a trophy note for most collectors & hopefully certified by now!

Yes I still have the banknote safely protected and tucked in my deposit box. We plan on having it certified but are busy with the estate at the moment. Lastly, I am a girl. lol

I would much like to put it up for auction but will have do some research on the subject as I am new to the game but eager to learn.

A) Make sure you have some type of dry-aid, safe desiccant & the note's stored in a proper PVC-free currency sleeve
B) Be sure to grade that note as this will attract more serious collectors. One of the CDN TPG's is Banknote Certification Services (BCS) & this is their site address. Steve is very knowledgable (& helpful). He also happens to be located at Colonial Acres Coins (which also have auctions):

D) Take photos (different angles/well lit) if you haven't graded it yet & ask your LCS (Local Coin Shop) dealer's what they think it would be worth. The reason photos are good is you don't want to handle it much. Getting a dealer's opinion may be a good idea as sometimes it works in a person's favour to sell privately (rather than through a large auction house- due to the seller's fees- which can get stupid/high).

Thank you Phil and everyone else who’s shown interest in my post. Your advise and expertise has definitely helped me with this bank note. I do have a local dealer who has been in business a very long time which I will be visiting soon. I will take all precautions concerning the safety of the note.
