I am curious if this is common. This bill has an 2 letter prefix and I haven't been able to find any info on it.
There is an *IL prefix listed but nothing with 2 letters without the asterisk.
Does it have any additional value?

Re: 1973 $1 IL prefix
That is the two letter prefix that was used when the series was first printed. They will all have the
Lawson-Bouey signature. Later on they switched to a three letter prefix. As there were over
1Billion 800 Million 2 letter prefix dollar bills printed, yours would be only worth $1.00 in that condition.

Re: 1973 $1 IL prefix
too many people kept these 1 dollar banknotes when they were replaced by coins. it isn't rare and worth almost face value unless in near perfect condition or a rare or a special prefix/serial number
