Rotator Radar or Just a Radar?

Post by 54DEVS » Mon Jan 18, 2021 9:35 pm

Hi, It's been a while since I've been on this site but I'm wondering if 8099908 would be considered a Rotator Radar or just a Radar? I read somewhere that you need a 0 or 8 in the middle for the rotator part of this.

Waiting for your reply.
Thank you

An interesting radar, but not a rotator, the 9's become 6's when flipped.

In my understanding, 6's are still part of a radar, are they not? I'm getting confused.

Any number can be part of a radar, or did you mean rotator? Apparently only 0 and 8 are proper rotator numbers, as they are the same number right side up or upside down.

A radar number is the same read forwards or backwards...like the letters in the word R A D A R. e.g 2334332 or 8760678.
A rotator number is the same when the note is right side up or upside down.(Sometimes known as a S W I M S note). For 7 digit numerical serial numbers the middle digit must be a 0 or 8. All other digits could be 0,6,8,9. e.g. 6008009.

I recently sold a US rotator 00096000.

I hope this helps.

I think in your examples given beachcow you are correct, but not if the numbers were say 6008006, because the 6’s would become 9’s.

Ok, I think I might understand. Let me ask this. Would 9008009 be considered a rotator radar because it still reads as a radar by flipping it. Ex: 9008009 when flipped reads 6008006. Correct??
Thx

No.
It has to read the same when inverted If it read 6008009 or 9008006, then it would be a rotater because it reads the same right side up or upside down.

Take the numbers from your radar 8099908 and rotate them, you’ve changed the numbers to 8066608, which is not the same as 8099908. So it’s still a radar either way, but not a rotator.

Let’s say we replace the 9’s in your radar with 8’s, to make it 8088808, and then rotate it, you end up with 8088808, which is the same number we started with, making these numbers a rotator radar.

Hope this helps.
