1974 $2 bank note Prefix - 'BX' no results found

Post by myanny » Thu Sep 09, 2021 11:02 pm

Attached you will see I have 9 $2 bills with a 'BX' prefix - but all of these bill come up as 'no results found'

Also included in the picture are bills with a 'BC' prefix.

Question really is the what value/category would I place these in (I use the serial # search as a reference for value based on the AU-50 - even though I know the bills aren't that type of quality)

I have lots of the 1974 $2 bills...where the top value is say AU-50 for $4.50
I have the 2 with the 'BC' prefix that say a value of AU-50 for $14.40

I know there could be millions/tens of millions printed, but maybe this prefix/signature combo is different?

I just want to be able to split/make notes on any of the bills that may have a little more value - for each of my kids...and I know I have done the best to split between all of them.

Much appreciated

Michael

The most common prefixes for modern notes are not listed.
It would take too many resources to list hem all.
As a rule of thumb unlisted modern notes, such as yours, are worth face value.
No dealer would buy them from you nor would any reputable auction house list them.

Agree with TBH
Those are known as Lawson-Bouey 2 letter prefix and with nearly 550 million printed, hold
no value over $2.00 unless in high uncirculated condition.

Thanks both for the explanation. I will leave these referenced as just a $2 note @ face value for the kids. Nice to have for them...I am still explaining to them that Loonies and Toonies weren't around forever.
