I can’t see why they wouldn’t be pretty accurate, although I guess printing mistakes are possible.
Is there any particular series or bill you are questioning?

Those particular numbers are likely accurate.
What am I missing?
Those numbers don't tell us how many of the notes printed were actually distributed.
They don't tell us how many of each survive some sixty-five years later.

Replacement notes may not be as sought after as the imprint changeover notes.
In the long run it's supply and demand that drive pricing not the quantiy printed.

The Charlton Catalogue is accurate.
What you see on Coins and Canada are replacement notes that members have reported.
It is in no way a count of the notes that were printed.
If you were to report one with prefix and serial number, then the count would go up.

Mr Coin Guy
Is there a difference between amount printed of notes or minted of coins and amount actually distributed ?
Thank you

It does happen occasionally with coins.
Not familiar with it happening with with currency.

Mr TBH
you mentioned imprint changeover notes...are you referring to prefixes that carryover between two sets of signatures?

Charlton prices USED to be from dealers, but they SUPPOSEDLY changed to reflect some auction prices as well. Regardless, their prices rarely are updated year to year and are historically high or overly optimistic. I think that most, except for some rare, scarce, or high-grade coins, about 30% high, but sometimes 50% high. Once Charlton's was sold and Bill Cross was no longer there, I find that they are more inaccurate nowadays.

change over prefixes

Post by karlpc » Mon Jan 31, 2022 12:51 pm

a changeover prefix is a prefix that exists under two different signatures
do they command a premium?
is there a list of them?
of course the most famous is the 1986 two dollar bill robin
AUG was used under both crow buoey and theisen crow
i have a AUG but...its a crow buoey...you can't win them all.....
still I'm a happy camper
