$2 Coin

I have an 1881 Newfoundland $2 coin. It looks like it has some gold solder and wire in it. Any thoughts on what this might be ? I could not seem to attach a picture.

It may have been from a piece of jewelry, necklace, watch fob, etc. Hard to tell without a photo. Even as scrap, it's worth over $500 Cdn.
