1958 1 cent

Hi everyone. I’ve had this coin for decades and wondering if anyone has a clue as to what it’s about. I’m thinking someone dipped it but looks very real. Any input would be great! Thanks, Darren

It totally looks dipped, but the relief is quite good.
Check the weight - it would be the penny's weight of 3.24 g plus the dipping agent.

It has been coated after it left the mint, probably with nickel.
This was sometimes done to use in jewellery or even done in
High School,experiments.
