It looks like a repunch to me from the photo, but would have to see it in-hand to be sure. I don't remember this Newfie cent being discussed before on any coin site, but you should do a search of this site, CCF, Coin Talk, or the PCGS site.

It is not worth sending it to a TPG. Unless you can actually SELL a coin for $200 or more (actually sell it, not find a book price), the cost of certification will exceed the value of the coin now or in the future. Newfie coins, let alone Newfie varieties, do not have a large collector base. Who knows? .. maybe ALL 1865's had a repunched 6 on one of their dies that struck multi-thousand coins.

It does mention a similar coin in Griffins Newfoundland and British North America Cents and half cents 1861 - 1936 Monograph 4.
The write up goes.
Page 14, GR-601d. 6 recut. The CTRIA of Victoria is re - punched or recut, with the O showing the most. There is a die break at the E of REG. The O of one has been recut at the right. The E + T of Cent have very poor tops.
Value shown when the book was published shows $15.00 in VF- 20.
This could be the coin described , there are a couple with 6/6

I have both the original Griffin and monograph 1. It may be 601d, but who knows? Even at that, the GR601 varieties are only rarity 4 & 5, so not even close to rare. Don't send it to be cert'd... you'll lose money.

Bill is right I wouldn't spend money on it to be graded either in this condition especially with the enviro damage to it they will body bag it for sure.
