Maktun is a free application for collectors

Post by Viktor_Maktun » Tue Jul 12, 2022 12:25 am

Maktun is a free (yes, no ads) app for coin and banknote collectors.

Maktun can recognize about 300,000 types of coins and 120,000 banknotes from a phone-photos. Just take a photo from both sides and it finds a coin (or banknote) in the catalog. Works very well on almost any coins over the past 300-400 years. May be wrong with more older coins. They can be found independently in the Maktun catalog and without photos.

The catalog contains the most detailed information about each coin that we were able to collect online.
The application allows you to maintain your collection, lists for exchange, sale, purchase, etc. It is important that he remembers and photos of coins from your collection.
Coins can be shared with friends, also you can find out the cost of coins and follow the new coins.

We really need feedback from numismatists and bonists. Please write what you think about the application if you have time to install it and try it. Negative feedback is also needed. Without them, we can't get better. But we will be glad if you like the application and you become our regular users.

Just search "Maktun" in the AppStore or Play.Market

That's really cool info @Victor_Maktun
Did you have a hand in its development (or do you just like the name)?
(A buddy of mine wanted to work on an app like this but I kept putting him off as it seemed far too time consuming)

Anyway, I found the website for this app in case collectors want more info.
https://maktun.com/
This could be huge for the next generation of collectors! 8)

I sincerely appreciate your words.
I'm not involved in the development of Maktun, but I'm part of the tech support.
At the request of users, team started creating a web version of the app, but at the moment it is a business card website.

Hi Victor, I just tried getting the Maktun app from the Apple store. It is not appear and thus not available. I also tried the Apple QR code but no luck there. You may want to investigate the reason for this.

Hello @bushman74

We're having some issues publishing the app to the App Store.
We are currently trying to resolve this issue.

Dear collectors,

We have some fantastic news for you: Maktun will be updated to a new version with many long-awaited features and improvements very soon!

As we eagerly anticipate this milestone, our team remains tirelessly dedicated to enriching our coin catalogue. We recently examined German coins using the authoritative Kurt Jaeger catalogue (Die deutschen Münzen seit 1871. 27th edition) and delved into Italian coins per the comprehensive Gigante catalogue (Gigante 2023. 31st edition). We are now turning our attention to French coins, where we will be drawing on the insights from Victor Gadoury's esteemed catalogue (Monnaies françaises 1789-2023. 26th edition) to provide you with even more invaluable information.

We are paying special attention to the section on coins of the German States. We will be significantly enhancing the content in the nearest future so that you can derive maximum enjoyment from studying and collecting coins from this period of history.

Stay tuned for updates and don't miss the launch of the new version of our application!

Greetings.
A month after the big update we released a small patch.
- We have refined and improved the description of phrases and buttons in Maktun.
- Moved the Export sign to the menu to make it easier for users to find it.
- Revised and updated the instructions to reflect the latest updates.
- Added new currencies asked us for: Peruvian salt and Swiss franc.
- And also we have added the possibility of automatic translation.
Now there is always an automatic translation button under the "Description" box. Users can click this button if they see the description of the object not in own language.
