Anomally on Nickel

Post by GMAC » Mon Jan 27, 2025 1:19 pm

looking for opinion/expertise.
this 2002 nickel has an anomaly beneath and underneath the "D" in Canada. The anomaly is not raised but has depth. What would this be called?
Any help would be appreciated.

seems like planchet flaw

the blank had this flaw/hole before striking

doesn't add value

To me it looks like it was struck through grease which is considered a minor error.
Not much value with it being a small area but keep it as an example.
