I was looking at the price guide for Canadian nickels and noted a listing of a 1942 DC-25 coin.
1. Can someone helpm understand what the "-25" referencing? I assume some sort of index for the pattern?
2. Where could I find more about this pattern coin? I would like to understand how many were made, why, any associate dhistory etc.. Just curious about them.
1942 DC-25 nickel...what is the background on this coin?
Re: 1942 DC-25 nickel...what is the background on this coin?
This is a pattern coin.
DC-25 is the number Charlton has assigned to it.
As far as I know, there is no record of any mintage but it would be very low.

Exactly. Made for testing the 12-sided shape, for the tombac pieces.
